Reiki is Good Vibrations… or an ancient hands on healing art which was re-discovered in Japan in the 1920s and quickly gained the attention of the main-stream western world.
The great thing about Reiki is that it can be delivered anywhere as you remain clothed when you receive it. Hospitals, hospices, business offices and sporting events are just some of the modern day places where Reiki energy may be used and found.
A Japanese technique for stress reduction and a form of relaxation therapy, Reiki also promotes healing. It is administered by the “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
Reiki has many of the same benefits as meditation and many of the same benefits as doing a movement practice like yoga or Tai Chi.
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being. Many have reported miraculous results.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
Reiki is a method of working with energy that you can use for your own benefit and for the benefit of other people. In its original Japanese form it was very much about working on yourself: it was a system that you could use for self-healing, self-development and spiritual development.
But when Reiki was first taught in the West in the 1970s, and since that time, Reiki teaching has focused much more on Reiki as a treatment technique – something that you do to other people – and the system appears to many people to be a sort of oriental spiritual healing, a hands-on treatment method that involves channelling energy.
Reiki is now being classed as a sort of complementary therapy, so people might practice Reflexology, or Aromatherapy, or they might practice Reiki.
There are very many different ways of practicing Reiki, with lots of different Reiki ‘variations’ having been developed in the West over the years, but, whatever the variety, Reiki is something that you can use for yourself, for your own personal benefit, and it is something that you can also share with other people.
